Janet Lee Diekhoff, 75 of Topeka, KS went to be with the Lord on January 21, 2021. She was born Janet Lee Housman on August 8, 1945 in Harvey, IL and moved to Southern California with her family as a young girl. She grew up and raised her four children in Rialto, CA until 1992 when Santa Fe Railroad moved her, her husband and two sons to Topeka, KS. Janet became an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church, volunteered as an usher at Topeka Performing Arts Center (TPAC), taught aerobics at the YMCA, played volleyball and Bunco. She was also an avid reader and gardener. Janet enjoyed spending time with family and friends both near and far, having traveled by motorhome over most of the USA, often traveling to California by train, taking cruises and even a trip to Turkey. Janet brightened up any room and enjoyed life.
Survivors include her daughters, Cindy Murray (husband Daniel) and Debbie Burleigh-Hazelton; her son Douglas Diekhoff (wife Belinda); daughter-in-law, Teresa Burleigh; sisters-in-law, Ruth Housman, Kathy McLellan and Susie Pina (husband Carl, Sr.); six grandchildren, Jennifer Burleigh, Eren Kilic, Seamus Murray, Deserae Diekhoff, Kylie Diekhoff and Deon Hazelton; two great grandchildren, McKenzie Burleigh-Kuney and Marley Burleigh-Kuney.
Janet is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Diekhoff; her son, Bill Burleigh; parents, Ralph and Evelyn Housman; her siblings, Joan Lasher and Ken Housman.
A celebration of her life will be at Calvary Lutheran Church 4211 NW Topeka Blvd. Topeka, KS 66617 on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 11:00 AM.
