Jana L. Beethe, 67, passed away on March 25, 2026 surrounded by family after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was born on April 4, 1958, in Hays, Kansas, and lived in Clay Center and Marysville, where she graduated high school in 1976. She often recounted her fond memories of participating in flag corps and chorale while in high school and of her close friends.
Jana dedicated nearly four decades of service to the State of Kansas Department of Insurance, after moving to Topeka and beginning her career at just 19 years old. As a legal secretary and administrative assistant, she became a trusted and steady presence, known for her reliability, attention to detail, and unwavering commitment. She retired in 2016, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and perseverance.
Jana was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon Beethe and Marlene Blauser Beethe. She is survived by her daughter, Blair Beethe; her brother, Doug Beethe and his wife Terese; her sister, Lisa Beethe Acosta; four nieces; two nephews; a great-niece; and a great-nephew. Her family will remember her for her gentle spirit, her steady presence, and the love she carried for each of them.
Jana was an avid sports fan, particularly of college football and basketball. She watched many KU men’s basketball games, as well as the KC Chiefs, over the years. But her true viewing passion was all of the Harry Potter movies – she watched each of the movies countless times. Her life touched many, and her memory will continue to be cherished by all who knew her.
