James Lee Wall, Topeka, KS, formerly of Amarillo, TX passed away peacefully on November 14, 2018 at Colmery – O'Neil VA Medical Center.
Jim was born in Russell, KS on April 25, 1939 to parents James Ira Wall and Mae G. Hoopes. He lived most of his life in Texas.
Jim is survived by his three children Lisa Wall Talley (Robert), James Eric Wall, and Christopher James Wall (Priscilla). He also has 3 grandchildren Matt Talley, Lauren Talley and Alexander James Wall. He is preceded in death by his parents and step father Edward Domann.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1956-1959, last serving on the USS Hank. He did maintenance, storage, and arming of MK14 and MK39 torpedoes on surface and sub-surface craft. He was honorably discharged with the rank of 2nd class Petty Officer (E-5).
He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Geophysics from The University of Kansas in 1971. He worked for several large Oil and Gas exploration companies and later as an independent Oil and Gas exploration contractor.
Jim loved his guns and going to the shooting range. He was an avid reader and loved a good cup of coffee. He also loved his Jayhawks and his Studebaker Avanti. He lived life to the fullest.
A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery in the early spring.
