James Carroll Sanner

James Carroll Sanner passed away peacefully at his home in Topeka, Kansas, on March 9, 2025, at the age of 96.

Born in Wellington, Kansas, to Ruth and Harold Sanner, Jim met the love of his life, Lee Becker, when she moved to town. He was smitten from the start. After graduating from high school, he served in the Army. During a winter leave, he flew home in an open-cockpit plane to propose to Lee—a testament to his devotion.

Jim earned multiple bachelor's and master's degrees from Wichita State University before embarking on a career as a CPA. He later retired as the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Finance at the Menninger Foundation.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Harold; his wife, Lee; his daughter, Patti; his son, Bob; and his granddaughters, Amy Stadler and Emily Sanner.

He is survived by his six children: Mike Sanner (Cathy), Barbara Sanner, Karen Stadler (Claude), Marilyn Segura, Amy Sanner Booth (Colin), and Steve Sanner (Dee), as well as his daughter-in-law, Jennifer Jackson Sanner. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with his sister, Donna S. Malkmus.

A family memorial will be held at a later date
