James Preston Huggins

James Preston Huggins, "Huggie" age 73, peacefully went home on May 14th, 2015 at his residence.

He was born the son of Joseph V. and Muriel M. Huggins on Sept. 13th, 1941 in San Antonio, TX. He spent most of his childhood in Delia, KS and graduated from Delia High School in 1959. He served in the Navy from 1960 to 1964. He later returned to Topeka KS, where he attended Washburn University. He received his Bachelors degree from Washburn in 1970. In 1971, he was employed as a clerk at Santé Fe Railroad until retiring in 2001.

Survivors includes two sons, Travis Huggins (Topeka) and Garrett (Dawn) Huggins (Topeka). He also leaves behind six grandchildren: Brice and Damien Huggins (Topeka), Zyte Huggins, Haleigh and Maren Peterson (Osage), and Gunnar Lewis (Topeka).

Graveside services will be held at 10:00AM on May 26th, 2015 at the Delia Cemetery. Relatives and friends are welcome to join in a celebration of his life at the Delia Community Center shortly afterwards.
