James Leo Brandenburgh Jr, 61, Topeka KS, passed away May 19 2016 at VA Medical Center in Topeka KS. James was born in Topeka KS to James and Betty Brandenburgh Sr.

James graduated from Seaman High School in 1973. He then attended Baker University for one year before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. During his military service he was stationed at San Diego CA, and later at Twenty Nine Palms CA.

After his military service, he was a delivery driver for many years for his father at Jayhawk Delivery Service. He later became a long haul truck driver for many more years and enjoyed seeing almost all of the united states during his travels.

Later in life he became disabled and was not able to drive long haul anymore, he got involved with the VA and became a wti worker in bldg 6 at the VA Medical Center. He also worked at the Duke House helping take care of his fellow veterans.

In life James loved his dogs. They were more than just pets to him, He loved any kind of motor sports and had his own race care during his younger days. He enjoyed baseball and loved watching his favorite team, his "boys in blue" the KC Royals. He also loved to watch wrestling with his best friend, Lyle

James married Nancy Masters in 1975 and later divorced.

Survivors include his children, James Brandenburgh III (Nicole), Lori Brandenburgh. One brother, Rick Brandenburgh. One nephew , Chris Brandenburgh. Three grandchildren, Cody Brandenburgh, Adam Brandenburgh, Zoe Brandenburgh,

He was preceded in death by his parents James and Betty Brandenburgh

James made many wonderful friends at the Duke House and VA Medical Center that meant the world to him. He would go out of his way to help any one of them.

Services will be held on Friday May 27 at 11:30 a.m. at All Faiths chapel – VA Medical Center , bldg 23 , 2200 SW Gage Blvd , Topeka Ks 66622. Flowers can be sent there in c/o chaplain service, room 102.
