James Richard Banks

The beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend James (Jim) Richard Banks, 72, Topeka, KS, passed away September 9, 2014 following a motor vehicle accident. Jim was born in Macomb, Ill. on June 13, 1942, the son of Wendell and Louella Banks. After graduation from Northwestern High School in 1960, he joined the U.S. Navy, Company 242. Following his military service, Jim moved to Topeka, KS where he worked in the area of computer/information technology until his retirement. Jim was an avid student of history and financial market systems, as well as a passionate golfer and exercise aficionado. Jim was preceded in death by his sister Mary Lou Hughes, his brother Wendell F. Banks Jr., his mother Louella M. Banks and his father Wendell F. Banks He is survived by his children Markland Banks and fiancée Sharon Cooke, Cristie (Banks) Duric, son-in-law Vanja Duric, his sister Linda S. (Banks) Ward, his sister-in-law Virgene M. Banks, his brother-in-law Peter W. Hughes and grandchildren Maximillian Duric, Ella Duric and Sloan Banks. Per his wishes, there will not be funeral services.
