Jack Leroy Thompson was born October 15, 1934 in his parents' home on Michigan Ave. in the Oakland neighborhood of Topeka during the height of The Great Depression. June 3, 1960 at Eastside Baptist Church in Topeka, he married his sweetheart, Patricia (Stockdale) Thompson. He passed away from Alzheimer's on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 in their longtime residence in Meriden, KS.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Georges and Phoebe (Coates) Thompson; brother, William; sisters, Bernice, Emma, Phyllis, and Georgia May. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, Meriden; daughter, Rebecca Thompson, Meriden; daughter, Rachel (Reg) Sehgal, Orlando, FL; son, John (Kelly) Thompson, San Antonio, TX; daughter, Sara (Joel) Wilder, Topeka; son, David (Gina) Thompson, San Antonio, TX; daughter, Elizabeth Thompson, Eskridge; daughter, Tabitha (Nolan) Weigel, Topeka; 15 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
He served 1957-1959 in the U.S. Army as a Radar Operator. He worked 43 years at Santa Fe Railroad and retired as a purchasing clerk in 1994. He was a founding member of North Rock Baptist Temple in 2000.
There will be a memorial service at North Rock Baptist Temple, Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 11am with a luncheon to follow.
