Jack E. McFarland took his last trip when he went to be with the Lord on December 16, 2018, at Midland Hospice House. He was born in Ft. Madison, Iowa, on December 19, 1926, to Edward and Lucile McFarland. He spent time in the Army Air Corps out of high school learning to be a photographer at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. When the war ended he attended Iowa State University and got a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for 43 years.
Jack leaves behind his wife Carole McFarland, twin sisters Maureen (Lou) Skinner and Marlene (Molly) Worthen, a son Barry McFarland (Kelly), a daughter Jessica McFarland, and a stepdaughter Holly Hoeffner. His grandchildren are Sean and Wyatt McFarland; Allison, Brandon, and Kailee Hoeffner; Alex and Emily Laughlin, and Brittany Stidham (Laughlin). A sister Nadine Harry and a step-daughter Amy Laughlin, preceded him in death.
Jack loved to travel, and he took many trips, including some to exotic places in the world. He enjoyed sharing his pictures and stories with friends and senior living facilities.
A memorial service will be held on January 5th, 2019, at Crestview United Methodist Church, at 1:00 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jack's name, to Helping Hands Humane Society, Midland Hospice, or Crestview United Methodist Church.
