Helen Lucille Spillman

Helen Lucille Spillman passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024, at the age of 99 in Topeka, KS. Born on April 13, 1925, in Kansas City, KS, Helen's life was a tapestry of dedication, joy, and community spirit that touched the lives of all who knew her.

Helen's early years in Kansas City were filled with the vibrancy of youth and the Great Plains' spirit. As a teenager, she brought smiles to many faces, selling cotton candy at Fairy Land Park, a cherished local amusement park of its time.

She married Elmer "Johnny" Spillman on February 17, 1945. They were married for 62 years until his passing in 2007.

Her professional journey was marked by meticulous craftsmanship and a keen eye for detail. Helen's career in the printing industry, which included roles as a paste-up artist at American Yearbook, Jostens, and General Printing displayed her artistic talent and unwavering work ethic.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters, husband Elmer Spillman, her daughter Patty, and two son-in-laws. She leaves behind her devoted daughters, Barbara Holder, and Sandy & Dan Bentch, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Helen's zest for life was evident in her hobbies and interests. She was an avid square dancer, gracefully twirling and do-si-doing her way into the hearts of her dance partners and friends. Bowling was another passion, where her competitive spirit and camaraderie shone through. Traveling with friends was one of her favorite pastimes, exploring new places and creating memories that would last a lifetime. Helen's competitive spirit shone brightly during her Bingo nights, where she was known for her lucky touch and the joyous camaraderie she fostered among fellow players.

Helen's life will be commemorated in memorial service 1:30 PM Friday, January 10, 2025, at Faith Lutheran Church 1716 SW Gage Blvd, Topeka, Kansas.
