Harley Paul Swanson was born June 16, 1971, in Chamberlain, South Dakota to Paul and Myrna (Stallman) Swanson of Pukwana where he lived on the family farm.
Harley attended and graduated from Chamberlain Schools before pursuing a degree in education at Black Hills State University as well as a Master's at Washburn University. He later moved to the Topeka Kansas area where he taught at Lawrence Gardner High School and Capital City High School as a special education teacher for a combined 27 years.
He married Carrie Davis and from that union had children, Hannah and Sawyer.
Harley was a true artist. He had a passion for nature and capturing its beauty on his camera. He enjoyed birding and photographed over 225 birds along with many other aspects of nature. He also enjoyed painting and the expression of his creativity.
Harley passed away unexpectedly June 30, 2022. He is survived by his children Hannah and Sawyer, his parents Paul and Myrna, his four brothers Scott (Sharman) of Pukwana, SD, Kevin of Dell Rapids, SD, Joel (Helen) of Harveyville, KS, Kenny (Laura) of Yankton SD, and his significant other, Kimberly Beilfuss of Baldwin City, KS.
A Harley Swanson Memorial fund has been set up at Azura Credit Union, 2808 SW Arrowhead Road, Topeka, KS 66614.
Celebration of Life will be held at Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church, 6020 SE 44th Street, Tecumseh, KS on Saturday, July 9, 2022, from 2:30pm- 4:30pm.
