Gloria "Glo" Mounkes Viau 68, passed peacefully in her sleep at her home in Emporia, Ks. following a 1 1/2 battle with cancer.
Born to Mr.& Mrs. Desiderio Carmona on January 14, 1949 in Big Spring, Tx. She left Big Spring to travel the world as a military wife to her 1st husband John R. Mounkes, Sr. This included Japan, Australia, Spain and various states in the United States. During this time she was employed by Civil Service and the Federal government for 20+ years.
After settling in Emporia Ks. she started her own business "Glorious Cleaning Services" before retiring due to illness.
"Glo" shared a beautiful 12 year marriage with her 2nd husband Matthew "Boots" Viau and they resided at their home fondly known as "The South 40" where she enjoyed gardening 10 of those 40 acres to make her one-of-a-kind "Glo's Roma Salsa" and pickles with recipes only she knew.
She is survived by her beloved husband Matthew "Boots" Viau, cherished daughter Liza Soto and husband Alfredo Soto of Austin, Tx., her most cherished grandchildren Justin Mounkes of Brooklyn, Ny. and Meliza Soto of Austin, Tx., and one brother Desiderio Carmona of Big Spring, Tx.
Preceded in death by her beloved son John R. Mounkes, Jr., 1st husband John R. Mounkes, Sr., 1 sister and 4 brothers.
Services will be held on Saturday October 28, 2017 begining at 11am at Sardis Congregational Church followed by a motorcycle procession ending at the VFW Post 1980 in Emporia, Ks.
