Glenda Louise Fischer

Glenda Louise Fischer, 74, passed away at 7:22 a.m. on September 22, 2026, surrounded by family. Her sons Curtis and Cordell were with her at the time of her passing, following a season in which she was lovingly cared for by her youngest son, Curtis and wife Kirshel.

Glenda was born in November 1951 to Glen Lee Elliott and Betty Joan Elliott, both of whom preceded her in death. She grew up as part of a large military family, moving throughout portions of her childhood during her father’s more than 20 years of service in the United States Marines and Air Force.

As an adult, Glenda pursued higher education, studying art at Washburn University. She remained passionate about art and creativity throughout her life. She was generous, loved conversation, and could readily laugh at herself. Glenda also had expressions all her own, including the memorable “Cat fur to make kitten britches,” and, inexplicably, “Charles.” To this day, no one is entirely sure who Charles was.

More than anything, Glenda loved the Lord. She loved reading her Bible, singing to Him, and listening to her sons discuss and debate Scripture. One of the passages especially meaningful to her was Proverbs 3:5–6: “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

Glenda was married to Larry Curtis Fischer, DVM, who survives her. She loved her three sons deeply and was proud of the family that grew around them. She is survived by her husband, Larry; her sons, Curtis and Kirshel Fischer, Cordell and Cristina Fischer, and Brian and Rashaell Fischer; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and her siblings: Glen Elliott Jr., Daniel Elliott, Leisa Elliott, JoAnne Farrar, and Pamela Turner. She is also survived by extended family and others whose lives were touched by hers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen Lee and Betty Joan Elliott; her brother, James Elliott; her sister, Marlene Caldwell; and several children lost through miscarriage.

Glenda’s life was marked by faith, creativity, generosity, and a deep love for her family. Her family will remember her as an artist, a mother, a grandmother, and a woman who found great joy in worshiping the Lord.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Community Church located on 1819 SW 21st St, Topeka, KS 66604

Flowers, floral arrangements are welcome and may be delivered to Community Church.

Friends and family are welcome to attend the celebration of life afterward.

A memorial fund has been established for those who would like to support the family during this time. Contributions will help with remaining medical expenses, cremation and service costs, family travel, and other expenses connected with Glenda’s passing.
