Gene Keating

Gene Keating was born March 19, 1937 to Gladys and Edward Keating. He passed away on March 18, 2014. He had 4 brothers Charles, Vincent, Leo, and Earl. He grew up on the farm south of Upland Kansas. He graduated from Dickinson County Community High School in 1955. He married LaVina M. Kidd of Junction City December 26, 1956 at St. Xaviers church. He began his 44 year career with Kansas Power and Light and was a member of the Kansas National Guard.

They raised 3 sons, David, Eric, and Tracy in Junction City until 1972 at that time they moved to a farm adjacent to the family farm and joined St. Michael's parish. Gene was very involved with St. Michaels and St. Patrick's cemetery. He was a member of St. Michael's parish council for several years.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Gladys, 4 brothers, Charles, Vincent, Leo & Earl. Other family members include Chuck Keating, Kathy Kidd, Robert D. Kidd, and Nellie Engstrom. He is survived by David and his wife Becky, Eric and his wife Cindy and their children Mitchell, Laci and her husband Ryan Foltz, Tracy and his wife Melissa and their children Kurtis and Derrick, LaVina Keating, Ernest and Charlotte Kidd, Caroline Kidd, Caroll Keating, 12 nieces and nephews,and many step children and step grandchildren.
