Gene Hayek

Lester Eugene (Gene) Hayek passed away February 18, 2018 after a long illness.

He was born October 30, 1932 in Topeka. He graduated from Highland Park High School in 1950.

Gene proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War on the USS Shasta.

He leaves the love of his life, Donna Lee (Gott) Hayek whom he married April 13, 1952 in Topeka. They were happily married for 65 years.

Gene retired after 43 years from Adams Business Forms.

He leaves behind his wife Donna at home and two children; Barbara Tryon (Alex), Kevin Hayek (Tami). He was proceeded in death by his daughter Gena Gravenstein.

Gene had five grandchildren; Amanda Torres (Danny), Dana Best (Andy), Meggin Montalvo (Howard), Misty Scheele (Stephen) and Robert Duff, Jr. He had five great-grandchildren whom he adored.

Gene was an avid golfer and enjoyed many years of traveling with his wife. He was also a true blue Jayhawk basketball fan.
