Gary Raymond Couch

Gary Raymond Couch, 86, earned his angel wings on June 9, 2017 in Topeka at the Midland Hospice House.

Gary was born February 27, 1931 on a farm near Colony, Kansas. Gary was the son of Raymond & Velda Couch. He graduated from Colony High School in 1949 and enlisted in the United States Air Force in January of 1951. After basic training, he was stationed with the 3350th Medical Group at Nouasseur Air Base in the former French Morocco, North Africa, as a Medical Administrator, where he served the remainder of his enlistment and was honorably discharged in November of 1953.

Gary then worked several years for Harrison Shoes in Iola, Kansas, and as sales manager for Kimsey's Shoes Inc. in Topeka. He was later employed as route supervisor for Butter-Krust Bakery in Topeka for more than 25 years. The last years of his employment were spent at The Kansas Expocentre where he worked until he retired at the age of 70.

Gary was a big fan of KSU sports and NASCAR, and enjoyed scratch-off lottery tickets. He was a very sweet and loving man who was always respectful of others even when he was feeling a bit feisty.

He was married to Frances "Pansy" Lovgren for over 20 years until they later divorced.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond & Velda Couch. He is survived by daughter, Anita (Darren) Meyers; a son, Eddie (Janice) Faiola; granddaughters Ashley Faiola and Tarah (Justin) Elston; great-grandson, Aiden Elston; and his loving sister, Donna Mae Wright.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 29, from Noon-2:00PM at the Silver Lake Senior Center, 404 E. Lake St., Silver Lake, Kansas.
