Garry F. Cook passed away peacefully on March 23, 2023 at his home.
Garry was born on June 4, 1941 in Logan, Oklahoma to Edgar F. and Ada Lucille Cook. Garry graduated from Topeka HS in 1960 and joined the Army and then switched to the Navy. Upon being honorably discharged, he was a welder and fabricator at Goodyear Tire and Rubber. He retired from Goodyear after 39 years. Garry enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family and friends. All enjoyed the delicious steaks he cooked on the grill. He bowled for many years and was on the bowling association board. Garry was a man of many skills and after retirement used his handyman skills to do remodeling and build decks with Bill Farr. He joined the Arab Shrine Temple in 2019 in Topeka and was a member of their Antique Car group. He was a 3rd degree Mason.
Garry was married to Gylene Ann Cook for 24 years who passed away 1/10/2017. He leaves one son Jimmie Kern (Debbie) in Florence, Alabama, three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Larry and Clifford Cook, a sister, Mittie Flesher, half-sister, Jeanne Layport, brother-in-law Allen Starr; and sister-in-law Judy Mongold. He is survived by brothers Everett and Martin Mongold (Rose), and sister Darlene Plank and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a longtime friend Sharon Scarbrough and family.
A celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
