Francis "Dean" Grisell, 85 of Topeka KS passed away Oct. 22nd at Topeka VA"s Community Living Center.
Dean was born January 19, 1930 at Twin Falls Idaho to Guy P and Hazel Noble Grisell. He spent his early years in Idaho and later moved to Emporia KS where in 1948 he graduated from Emporia High School . He served in the U. S. Armed Forces during the Korean Conflict where he was stationed in the Panama Canal Zone. He attended Kansas University, then moved to Topeka KS in 1956 where he worked in the engineering department of Topeka Foundry and Iron Works for 38 years until he retired.
Dean Loved nature and wildlife, was an avid birdwatcher and was an active member for many years of the Topeka Audubon Society , He did volunteer work for KTWU, loved classical music, traveling and watching his beloved Jayhawks play sports.
Dean Married Gladys Romer July 22, 1951 in Emporia KS. They celebrated 64 years of marriage. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Dan Grisell of Topeka, Rex and his wife Minghua Grisell of Cincinnati OH. Daughter-in-law Sara Grisell of Topeka. Four Grandchildren, Vince and his wife Kelly Grisell of Kansas City MO, Alana Grisell of Topeka, Deana Grisell and Andrea Grisell of Cincinnati OH. Honorary granddaughter Terra Langley of Lawrence KS. Three Great-grandchildren, Paige Grisell of Topeka, Macy and Miles Grisell of Kansas City MO and his beloved cat Baxter. Dean was preceded in death by his parents. Cremation is planned.
A celebration of Dean's life will be held Saturday November 7, 2015 from 2 pm to 4pm at Highland Park United Methodist Church, 2914 SE Michigan, Topeka KS.
