Florene Johnson

Florene Johnson, age 86, of Topeka passed away on Easter day, April 16th, 2017 at a Topeka Nursing Facility after a long courageous battle of Alzheimer's. She was born in Ozawkie, Ks on September 25th, 1930. The daughter of Guy and Bessie Brammell. She had 7 sister's and 4 brothers. She married David Williams, they later divorced. She was married to Dale E. Johnson on July 11th 1980 until the time of his death on March 30th, 2004. She was proceeded in death by her son David A. Williams. She leaves behind 4 daughters, Kathryn Wilson of Watertown, SD, Julie Crooks of Las Vegas, NV, Robyn Barnes of Topeka, Ks, Stacey Harrington of Topeka Ks, step daughter Kris Johnson of Albuquerque, NM, and step son Steve Johnson. She had 11 grandchildren; Sarah, Brooke, Ryan, Lesley, Gary, Stephanie, Brandon, Sean, Melissa, Ryland, and Jessa. 9 great grandchildren; Alex, Andrew, Katelyn, Scarlett, Benjamin, Theodore, Donald, Juliet, and Olivia.

She and Dale had a beautiful marriage. They traveled the world visiting many states and countries. They were very active bird watchers and avid gardener's. Nature was their passion. They planted and grew the most amazing landscapes of flowers, plants and tree's. Colorado was one of their favorite places in the summer to visit. She and Dale did a lot of hiking, and bird watching throughout Colorado.

Other than her 10 siblings she had a identicle twin sister named Madene, she survives. Even though her twin Madene lived in Cheyenne, Wyo over the last 60 years they were still very close to each other.

She worked at AAA Auto Club of Kansas as a secretary. She also was a bus tour guide throughout the New England States during the fall months when the trees were changing colors. She also did secretarial work during the legislative session.

She did a lot of volunteer services. Delivering books from the Topeka Public Library to the home bound, a advocate for women of domestic violence, and for the Stormont Vail Hospital Auxiliary.

Cremation planned. No services will be planned.
