Fidel Lopez - Moreno

November 28, 1954 — September 27, 2025

Fidel Lopez - Moreno, 70, passed away on September 27, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas. Born on November 28, 1954, in Cauto, Cuba, Fidel lived a life marked by deep connections to family, community, and his cherished traditions.

In 2015, Fidel met the love of his life, Donna Ortega - Lopez - Moreno. Their bond grew over the years and culminated in marriage in August 2021. Together, they shared a joyful companionship filled with laughter and mutual devotion. One of their favorite pastimes was visiting the casino together—a simple pleasure that brought them closer and created lasting memories.

Fidel was a devoted stepfather to Donovan Ortega Sr. (Courtney) of Texas; Zackariah Pettigrew (Jonna) of Nebraska; and Tre'jon Raimey - Kirtdoll of Topeka. He was also a proud father to his daughters Marquita Moreno (fiancé Nathaniel Lowman) and Kaleena Moreno, both of Florida; and sons Yoel Lopez - Rodriguez of Rio Cauto, Cuba, and Yudisney Lopez - Rodriguez of Havana, Cuba. His legacy continues through his four granddaughters, four grandsons, and one great-grandson.

He came from a large and loving family. Fidel is remembered fondly by his many siblings: Domitila Nunez Aldana; Belkis Lopez Nunez; Mirian Lopez Nunez; Santa Lopez Nunez; Carmen Lopez Nunez; Distinio Lopez Nunez; Pedro Lopez; Merelis Lopez Nunez; Argeneda Lopez Nunez; Eledis Lopez Nunez; Ada Iris Lopez Nunez; Adisnubiq Lopez Nunez; Ramon Lopez Miranda; Enoelia Lopez Miranda; Margarita Lopez Nunez; Eusebio Lopez Miranda; Miguel Lopez Miranda; Edesban Lopez Nunez; and Primitivo Lopez Nunez.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Pedro Lopez - Ferrales and Ilda Moreno, as well as siblings Mario Lopez Miranda, Antonio Lopez Nunez, Ramon Lopez Nunez, and Rosaura Lopez Nunez.

Fidel found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved playing dominoes with his buddies—a game that brought him camaraderie and laughter. His warm spirit made him a beloved presence among friends and neighbors alike.

A man of faith, Fidel was a member of Mount Caramel Missionary Baptist Church. His spiritual life provided him with strength and community throughout the years.

Those who knew Fidel remember him as someone who was always willing to lend a helping hand. His kindness touched many lives, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him and continue to inspire acts of kindness in his honor. A Memorial Service will be held on October 11, 2025, at 11:30 am at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 610 SE Line Street, Topeka, KS.
