Emma Lee Wiltrout, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2023, in Topeka, Kansas.
Born on January 2, 1942, in Wamego, Kansas, Emma was a radiant beacon of love and support to her family and friends throughout her life. Her cause of death remains unknown.
Emma was the cherished daughter of Henry Sartain and Ruth (Corlett) Sartain. She is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Ruth Sartain, two sons, William "Billy" Wiltrout and Robert "Bobby" Harris, her granddaughter Robin Ann, and her husband, Howard "Butch" Ray Jr and her 3 brothers Henry Eugene, Joel lee and Gerald Sartain.
Emma grew up in the heart of Wamego, Kansas, with her siblings, Gerald, Susie, and Larry. She was a woman of strength and grace, who instilled in her family a deep sense of love and respect for their roots.
Emma is survived by her two daughters, Kathy (Gary) Morgan, and Bertha Wiltrout, both from Topeka, Kansas. She was a loving and nurturing mother, a role she embraced with a heart full of love and patience. Her daughters remember her as a compassionate guiding force, always there with a comforting word or a warm embrace. Emma's legacy also lives on through her sister, Susie (Johnny) Cyrene, from Manhattan, Kansas, and her brother, Larry Sartain from Wamego, Kansas. Her siblings remember her as a pillar of strength and a source of unending love and support.
Emma was adored by her eight grandchildren: Joshua (Angie) Morgan, Jessie Wiltrout, Jeri Morgan, Jenny Morgan, Harry Wiltrout, Lucky McFarland, and Kaitlynn Wiltrout, all residing in Topeka. Her grandchildren remember her as a doting grandmother, always ready with a story or a sweet treat. She was also the proud great-grandmother to nine great-grandchildren: Derric, Aaliyah, Angel, Morgan, Miyah, Heaven, William, Summer, and Aria, all of Topeka, Kansas. Her great-grandchildren remember her as a fountain of wisdom and a source of endless joy.
Emma was a woman of simple pleasures. She loved to play bingo, go shopping, and had a particular fondness for attending pow wows. Music was a significant part of her life, and she found immense joy in listening to Elvis Presley and Willie Nelson. Her home was often filled with their melodies, creating a warm and inviting atmospheres for all who visited. Their memories remain etched in the hearts of their loved ones, their stories told and retold, keeping their spirit alive. Emma Lee Wiltrout's life was a testament to love, resilience, and the power of family. Her memory will forever be cherished by her loved ones, and her spirit will continue to inspire and guide them. She will be deeply missed, yet her legacy will continue through the love and values she instilled in her family.
