Elwyn D. Long, 78, of Topeka, KS, passed away at home surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, September 11, 2022, after a long battle with Dementia and heart complications.
He was born October 26, 1943, in Topeka, KS the son of the late Lyle and Helen (Butner) Long.
Elwyn was employed at Kansas Gas Service for 39 years, retiring as a Foreman on January 1, 2007. He loved his job, great co-workers, and bosses. He also loved rock/agate/arrowhead hunting, racoon hunting, traveling, reading and art.
He was married to Rachel Cole, they later divorced. From this union they had a daughter, Andre Massy who gifted him with four grandsons and a granddaughter along with several great-grandchildren. Elwyn married the love of his life, Marjorie Garner on November 24, 1982. From this union he inherited three wonderful daughters, Kim Howey, Karie Wildermuth and Lorrie Garner all of Topeka, five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Other survivors include a brother, Tom Long of Topeka, a sister, Marsha Ericson of Dover. Three nephews and one niece also survive.
Per his wishes cremation has taken place and no services are scheduled. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
