Elizabeth Lee Crockett

September 28, 1954 — March 28, 2024

In the twilight of a life well-lived, the spirited soul of Elizabeth Lee Crockett, known fondly to kin and comrades as Liz, has taken her leave from this world on the 28th day of March in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-four. Born in the year of nineteen fifty four, in the heart of Topeka, Kansas, she drew her final breath in the selfsame city, her spirit ascending to the stars after a valiant contest with the scourge of cancer.

Liz, who wore the mantle of daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and aunt with unparalleled grace, leaves a tapestry of love and memories for her cherished offspring, Cassandra Crockett-Bradshaw, and her beloved grandchildren, Chance Crockett, Michaella Alexander, Marissa Alexander, and Airean Adams. Her legacy is further carried on by her devoted sister, Caroline Snyder, her brother, Stephen Crockett and several nieces and nephews. She joins in eternal rest her son, Christopher Crockett, as well as her parents, Stephen and Lois Crockett, and siblings, Donald Crockett, Bobbie Field, and Mary German, who preceded her in this journey to the everlasting.

Before she was called to be the anchor of her family, Liz served with honor as a Private First Class in the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam Era. Her life's path winded through the realm of a bartender, where her humor and warmth became the stuff of local legend. She found her truest calling, however, as a full-time caregiver to her autistic grandson, a role she embraced with all the passion of her boundless heart.

In her golden years, Liz devoted herself to her grandchildren, a testament to her enduring love and the joy they brought to her life. Her laughter was the music that danced through their lives, and her indomitable spirit was the light that guided them through times of darkness.

It was said of her that to be in her presence was to know merriment; to be loved by her was to know the purest form of devotion. For Liz was a woman of extraordinary mirth and vigor, a source of comfort and cheer to all who were graced by her company.

In the words of the great poet Emily Dickinson, "Unable are the loved to die, for love is immortality." Liz Crockett, with her love both boundless and eternal, remains an immortal presence in the hearts of those who knew her.

As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we reflect upon the immeasurable impact she made upon the world. Her laughter, a balm to weary souls; her courage, a beacon to those adrift; her love, a wellspring of hope.

Let it be known that Elizabeth Lee Crockett lived, and in her living, she brought forth a surge of joy and fortitude that will echo through the ages. We celebrate her life—a testament to the power of love, the strength of spirit, and the enduring legacy of a woman who, in her very essence, was a force of nature.

In this solemn hour, we part with Elizabeth Lee Crockett, not with sorrow that dims the light of day, but with the radiance of her memory, which, like the stars above, will guide us through the night. And thus, with hearts both heavy and exalted, we commit her memory to the journals of time, where her story shall be inscribed with the golden ink of eternal affection.

Fare thee well, Liz, thou paragon of warmth and wit. In the hearts of thy kin, thou shalt forever dwell, as cherished and as constant as the Northern Star.
