Edward Earl Miles

December 20, 1950 — September 6, 2023

Edward E. Miles (72), passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on September 6, 2023, following a long battle with COPD and a short battle with Liver Carcinoma.

He was born in Topeka, Kansas, on December 20, 1950, to Earl Floyd Miles and Virginia P Dennison Miles. Ed graduated from Highland Park High School and went on to serve in the Kansas National Guard.

On July 25, 1970, Edward married the love of his life and best friend, Mary Lee Magistro and went on to have three children and one grandchild.

As a sports fan, he enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, and football in his youth, later passing on his talent by coaching his daughters in softball. He was exceptionally proud of his grandson, Andrew Miles, and loved to watch him play baseball, basketball, and soccer throughout the years. Ed also enjoyed the peacefulness of fishing and loved the outdoors, often taking hunting trips.  You could often find him enjoying a Kansas City Royals game; a Kansas City Chiefs game, or cheering for both the KU Jayhawks and K-State Wildcats.

Edward is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Lee. His son Frank(Cassie) Miles; daughters Stephanie and Julia Miles, all of Topeka. His grandson Andrew E. Miles of Kansas City; brother Howard (Carol) Miles of Topeka, sisters Martha (Terry) Monihen of Council Grove, Patricia Campbell of Nebraska, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his Father Earl F Miles and mother Virginia P Dennison Miles as well as many aunts uncles, and cousins.

The family will be having a celebration of Life on October, 21, 2023, between 5:30 P.M. and 8:30 P.M at Lake Shawnee in Topeka, Kansas. Shelter House #6.
