Edward “Ed” Dale Hogan

Edward "Ed" Dale Hogan, 89, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, at Midland Hospice House. He was born on February 11, 1936, to Thomas Burton Hogan and Lillion Ruth Bergstrom.

Ed graduated from Osage City High school in 1953. On July 7, 1958, Ed married Nellie Lou Myers.

Ed proudly served his country in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following his military service, he worked for Topeka Food Depot until its closing and later for Fleming Foods until his retirement in 1994. Never one to stay idle, Ed went back to work as a substitute custodian for USD 501 until 2015.

He was preceded in death by his son Dale Hogan; brothers Russel Hogan and Tom Hogan; sister Juanita Kolbaba; and great-grandson Noah Carter.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Nellie Hogan; son Charles Carter (Kathy); daughter Charlene Marlow; grandchildren J.C. Marlow, Christopher Marlow, Daniel Marlow, Keith Carter, Kyle Carter, Kelli Carter, and Kimberly Carter; adopted son Daniel Toomey (Sabrina); as well as many great-grandchildren, extended family members, friends who will miss him dearly.

Services will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 10:00 am at Highland Park Baptist Church, 820 SE 29th Street, Topeka, KS 66605.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st Street, Topeka, KS 66604.
