Edward T. Bicknell

Edward was born August 4, 1933 in North Topeka, KS to Clyde Hiram Bicknell, Sr and Helen Gould (House) Bicknell, the youngest of eight children. The family then moved to East Topeka in 1934, where Ed attended Rice School and graduated from Highland Park High School in the class of 1951.

He was drafted into the Army May 21, 1953 and stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Ed married Carol Ann Newman on February 10, 1956 in Topeka. To this marriage a son Russell Eugene Carnes was born. Ed wed LaDonna Plummer November 8, 1959 in Yuma, Arizona. A daughter Michelle "Micki" Renee Bicknell was born to this marriage.

Ed was employed as the District Refrigeration Engineer for the Western Division of National Cold Storage, previously SEPSCO (Southeastern Public Service Company). He retired in 1995 but worked under contract for the next one and a half years.

Ed enjoyed giving family reunions, doing genealogy, wood working, traveling and casino trips. He was a member of the American Legion and of RETA (Refrigeration Engineers Technical Association).

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother and sister, sisters Lillian Vaughn and Doris Thompson Stockebrand and brother Clyde "Bud" Hiram Bicknell, Jr.

He is survived by his wife LaDonna, daughter Michelle "Micki" Renee Bicknell of Auburn, son Russell "Russ" Eugene Carnes (Brenda) and grandsons Marty and Nicolas Carnes of Minnesota and sister Laura Dale Alexander of Michigan.

A "Celebration of Life" will be held at the Auburn Civic Center Saturday December 8, 2018, 11 am - 1 pm, casual dress. A military interment will be held at Rochester Cemetery in early Spring.
