Edith Audrey Thompson, affectionately known as Edith to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2024, from natural causes in her hometown of Topeka, Kansas, at the age of 76.

Born on August 13, 1947, to the late Cornelia Irene Thompson and Earl Edward George, Edith was a lifelong resident of Topeka and a beacon of gentle kindness to all who knew her. Edith's formal education was completed within the Topeka Public Schools system, where she cultivated a nurturing spirit that would define her personal and professional life. Her career was marked by her dedication to serving the senior citizens of her community, a service she provided with love and patience, alongside her esteemed Job Coach, Bunny. Edith's work not only brought joy and comfort to many but also reflected her innate desire to support and uplift those around her. A woman of simple pleasures, Edith found joy in the everyday. She was a familiar face at Fairlawn Plaza Mall, where she indulged in her love of shopping. Her visits to the salon were a cherished ritual; she took delight in having her hair styled and her nails painted, a testament to her appreciation for life's finer details. Edith's love for her jewelry was well-known, each piece a sparkling reminder of the beauty she saw in the world.

Beyond her personal interests, Edith was a dedicated member of Grace Point Church, where she attended services regularly. Her faith was a cornerstone of her existence, providing her with strength and solace throughout her life's journey. Edith's presence in the congregation will be deeply missed, but her spirit will undoubtedly continue to grace the halls and hearts of those she touched.

At home, Edith's gentle demeanor was perfectly complemented by her beloved cat, Christmas, who was her constant companion and source of comfort. She also found love and companionship in her life partner, Harold Morris, with whom she shared many of life's joys and challenges.
