Earl Dean McWhorter

January 15, 1983 — March 31, 2026

Topeka

Earl Dean McWhorter, 43, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, while in hospice care at Midland Care in Topeka, Kansas.

Earl was born on January 15, 1983, at Denver Medical Center in Denver, Colorado, to Patricia Ann Jackson and Marvin Joe McWhorter Jr. Earl graduated from Baldwin High School and began his working life shortly after.

He went on to hold various jobs throughout his life, including his first job at Taco Bell; Gammon Equipment, installing X-ray equipment; the Baldwin nursing home; Diversified Demolition; and later ending his working career with NPL.

Earl had a deep love for the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, happiest when he was out on the water with a line cast and music playing. He loved to kayak and made countless memories by buying kayaks for his family so they could all enjoy time together. Known for wearing camouflage nearly every day and rarely being without his lucky fishing hat, Earl truly lived for the simple joys of life.

He loved chocolate milk, animals, and, above all, making people laugh. Earl had a generous heart and would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. He was an incredible fisherman and took great pride in passing his knowledge and love for the outdoors down to his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Ann Jackson; his grandfather, Marvin Joe McWhorter; and others.

He is survived by his father, Marvin Joe McWhorter Jr., of Topeka, KS; his aunt, Debbi Austin, of Ottawa, KS; his siblings, Marvin Joe McWhorter III, of Mississippi; Kristina McWhorter, of Quenemo, KS; and Felicea Searl and her husband, Travis, of Baldwin, KS; and his beloved daughter, Remington Rose McWhorter, of Baldwin, age 4. He also leaves behind nine nieces and three nephews, whom he loved deeply and shared many memories with.

Earl will be remembered for his kindness, his sense of humor, and the love he had for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
