Earl W. Benson

Earl W. Benson, age 86, passed away from this life and joined Jesus on May 22, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas.

Earl was born on August 3, 1938, in Idabel, Oklahoma. He began working for the Santa Fe Railroad in 1959 in San Bernardino, California at the age of 21. He retired in 2001 in Topeka, Kansas after 42 years of service. After retiring from the railroad, Earl worked for the local school district as a substitute classroom aide. He enjoyed working in classrooms and helping children. He was a proud member of Highland Heights Christian Church for over 30 years. One of his greatest joys was attending church and learning about the Lord. His memory will forever be in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Audrey Benson, a sister, Patsy Oliver, a brother, Jesse Benson a niece, Stephanie Nichols and a nephew Erik Liles.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Benson of 65 years, two daughters, Janice and Linda of California, grandsons, Christopher and Micheal of Topeka, Kansas, three great-grandchildren, Jatin, Bayli and Elijah of Topeka, Kansas, two sisters Sammie Bowen of Broken Bow, Oklahoma and Ginger Smith of Texarkana, Arkansas. A host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews along with extended relatives also survive.

Earl will be laid to rest at Pomona Valley Memorial Park in California.
