Dorothy L McDowell (91) went to Heaven, January 15, 2017.

Dorothy Louise Slatten July 14th, 1925 born to parents Fredrick and Beryl Slatten at St. Joseph Mo. They then moved to Topeka. Dorothy married Frederick McDowell August 1st, 1942 in Topeka.

Dorothy is survived by Daughter Doris Reedy (Lyle) Topeka, and Son Patrick McDowell (Vereta) Topeka, Grand Children, Great Grand Children and Great – Great Grand Children. Dorothy was preceded in death by Husband Frederick, Daughter Gloria Smith, and Great Grandson Dakota Long.

Dorothy attended public schools in Topeka. She was a wife and mother first, and worked part time for Sarah Coventry and Jaquith Pharmacy before retiring. She was very active volunteering for her Children's School, Scouting, Church and Civic activities. She also taught crafts for Family, Church and Neighbors anytime they asked. Camping and Fishing were activities that she enjoyed sharing with her husband and Family, and she loved her pets which over the years consisted of Canaries, Cats, Fish, and various breeds of Dogs. She always enjoyed watching wild birds, and her favorite was Humming Birds.

Dorothy will be greatly missed for her sincere love for everyone and everything except snakes.

Visitation at 10:00am, Memorial Service 11:00am Tuesday January 24th at Lakeview Church of the Nazarene, 2835 SE Croco Road Topeka, Ks
