Doris Mae North, a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on March 26, 2023, in Topeka, Kansas. Born on October 1, 1951, in Junction City, Kansas, to Cecil and Ruby Pearl (Cox) Anders. Doris was the oldest of 6 children. Doris was well-known for her kindness, friendliness, and warmth that was contagious to everyone she encountered. She was 71 years old.
Doris was a proud graduate of Junction City High School, where she established lifelong friendships. After high school, Doris worked at Ripley Dry Cleaners and Volume Shoe.
The true joy and passion of Doris's life were her family and her home. She married the love of her life, Cecil North, and together, they built a beautiful family that included their children, Laura (William Babcock), Cecil Clint, General (Suzanne North), and Alicia and grandchildren Gentry and Emmerson Babcock, Dayley North, and Aurora Adams. Doris was a loving and supportive wife, always standing by Cecil's side until his passing. She was an incredible mother who nurtured and cared for her children, teaching them the value of love, kindness, and compassion. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the aroma of her delicious homemade meals. She is also survived by her brothers Bo Anders and Michael Anders; she was preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Ruby Pearl (Cox) Anders, her sister Linda Vanderwege, and brothers Cecil Anders and Tommy Anders.
Doris was an avid cook and loved crafting, known for her scrumptious country cooking and mouthwatering biscuits and gravy. Her culinary skills were a source of pride and joy, and she was always eager to share her recipes and tips with others. She had a knack for creating beautiful crafts that she would gift to her family and friends, leaving a little piece of her love and creativity with everyone she knew.
As a grandmother, Doris cherished every moment spent with her beloved grandchildren. She showered them with love, affection, and guidance, and she took immense pride in their accomplishments, milestones, and displaying their artwork. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and her love for them was boundless.
Doris was a woman of faith, and her strong belief in God guided her throughout her life. She was a constant source of love, support, and encouragement to her family and friends. Her unwavering faith provided her with strength and resilience during challenging times, and she was a pillar of support for those around her.
In addition to her children, Doris was known as "Mom" to many of her kids' friends. She had a heart of gold and will be dearly missed by her many friends and extended family members, who will forever cherish the memories and moments shared with her.
Doris's life was a testament to the power of love, kindness, and friendship. Her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched and the memories that will be held close in the hearts of those who knew her. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly, guiding and inspiring all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 14th at Topeka Baptist Church- South Campus 4141 SW 53rd St, Topeka, KS 66610. Flowers can be sent to this address. Following the service, family and friends are invited to join us at Thunderbirds Grille, 2920 SE Croco Rd, Topeka, KS 66605, where we will gather to honor her memory, share stories, and remember the incredible woman she was.
