Donna Jean (McCoy) Davis, 88, passed away Nov. 2, 2017 in Manhattan, KS of natural causes. Born in Greensburg, Indiana, she was the youngest of Hanora (Roberts) and Walter "Jit" McCoy's four children, which included Blaine, John Ed, and Wally. Donna is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jack H. Davis, daughter Jan and son Glen, both of San Diego, CA, son Bob and wife Sherry of Manhattan, KS, and son Scott and wife Ronna, and their children Kendra and Mark Davis of Ft. Collins, CO.
Donna graduated from Greensburg High School in 1947 and attended Indiana University where she met and married Jack in 1950 and moved to Dallas, TX. The family moved to Ft. Collins, CO in 1970, and Jack and Donna moved to Kansas in 2005.
During her many years in Ft. Collins, Donna worked as a bookkeeper and office manager at KCOL radio, various design agencies, and Boltz Jr. High where she made many good friends. She was like a second mother to many of her children's friends and loved by all that knew her. Donna lived for visits with her family and was passionate about holiday gatherings and birthday celebrations.
Donna enjoyed joining her kids' parties and their live music "gigs," as well as cooking, and playing Dominoes with her kids and grandchildren at family gatherings. Donna had a wonderful sense of humor and requested of her blind date with Jack Davis in 1948, "That he'd be tall and have a good sense of humor." He fulfilled both, and the rest is history.
A small gathering of friends and family will celebrate her life on Friday, Nov. 24, in Manhattan, KS.
