December 12, 1922 — September 19, 2017

Derald W. Hogan, 94, of Topeka, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, September 19th, 2017, at McCrite Plaza. He was surrounded by family, love and prayers as he encountered the incredible grace of Jesus and reunited with family waiting to greet him in heaven.

Derald was born in Marysville, Kansas on December 12, 1922 to Joseph and Estella (Heckard) Hogan.

He graduated from Topeka High School in 1940.

In 1942, Derald married Maxine D. Price. On June 1st, they celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary.

On February 17, 1943, Derald enlisted and served in the United States Army during World War II as a combat infantryman and Radio Operator in numerous campaigns in the Southern Philippines.

In the early years of their marriage, his work took them to North Dakota and Texas before he eventually settled in Topeka as he went to work for Kansas Power & Light as a lineman. He retired, from KP&L, as a Line Foreman with 35 years of service to the company.

Derald was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Michael J. Hogan Jr. and Donald L. Hogan.

He is survived by his wife Maxine; daughter Glenda "Cookie" (Richard) Guilfoil;

2 grandchildren; Rick (Beth) Guilfoil (Shawnee, Ks), Dee Dee (Rick) Colahan (Topeka);

7 great grandchildren; Jacob Mills, Morgan Mills, Amber Guilfoil, Madison Colahan, Ashley Guilfoil, Raegan Colahan, Izzie Mills.

Memorial Service will begin at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 28th at Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene, located at 3501 SW Wanamaker Rd. Graveside will follow at Rochester Cemetery.
