Denzil “Denny” Moyer

December 18, 1927 — November 20, 2020

Denzil "Denny" Moyer, 92, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. He was born December 18, 1927 to Oscar and Lula (Bradford) Moyer in Topeka.

Denny married Louise Wendland February 11, 1951. His passing was three months shy of their 70th wedding anniversary. He is survived by Louise, a daughter Denise (David) Frickey, and a son Darin (Micaela) Moyer. Also, five granddaughters, five grandsons, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Leona and Dorothy, and his brother Harold.

Denny joined the Navy in 1945, serving off the coasts of California and Oregon. The Army called him up in 1952 and he was sent to work on radar sets in Okinawa, Japan. After his military service, he spent a long career in the industrial maintenance industry, with such accomplishments as Licensed Master Technician and helping to build the first television tower in Kansas City. Much of his career was spent in HVAC, repairing, installing, and teaching heating and air-conditioning systems, large and small. Countless people were on the receiving end of his generosity as he rarely declined a service call, many free of charge.

Denny was well-known amongst family and friends as being a great story-teller and often held his audience in captive anticipation of a punch-line. He was also a Master Gardener and took pride in growing his own produce in the large orchard & garden space he kept. Every summer his efforts would yield an abundance of fruits and vegetables to share with many families. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and was known in his congregation as "the candy man" as he always had a pocketful of candy to share. He will be greatly missed by anyone who was fortunate enough to know him.

Services will be scheduled after the first of the year, 2021.
