Dean Edward Robson, 88, of Abilene, passed away Wednesday, February 19th, 2020 at Village Manor after a long battle with Parkinson's. He was born December 29, 1931 in Abilene to Edward and Marie (Bross) Robson. He graduated from Abilene High School and Kansas State University. He lived his entire life in the Holland community except for 2 years in the Army in El Paso, Texas. In 1953 he married his high school sweetheart, Verla Clarine Ming and they enjoyed 66 years together. Together they farmed and had a dairy and he considered Clarine his excellent partner in the farm business. His hired men were always grateful for what they learned about farming, and maybe not as grateful for what they learned about hard work. But they always enjoyed lots of home-cooked food on the table.
He is survived by his wife, Clarine, of the home; children, John Robson (Cathy), Diane Loftness (Rich), Debbie Lathan and Mark Robson; grandchildren, Benjamin Patterson, Catherine Robson, Scott Robson (Brittanie), Paul Loftness, Timothy Loftness, Tyler Lathan and Kera Lathan; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jeanette Green, of Hawaii.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 29, at New Basel Church, 1075 1100 Ave., Abilene. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to New Basel Church, or to Robson Family Agriculture Scholarship, in care of The Community Foundation of Dickinson County (donate online or mail to P.O. Box 735, Abilene).
Cremation was at the Midwest Cremation Society, Inc. in Topeka.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to all the staff at Village Manor for the love and excellent care he received there and to the staff of Hospice of Dickinson County for their loving care in our time of grief.
