David Manuel Pitts

David Pitts, 82, lifetime resident of Council Grove, Kansas, passed away Monday, March 02, 2015, at Diversicare of Council Grove.

David was born August 14, 1932 in Council Grove, to Earl and Camilla (Cheek) Pitts. He married Lena Shope on December 23, 1950 in White City, KS. She preceded him in death on December 22, 2014. Together they had seven children.

David served in the National Guard and was stationed in Korea following the Korean war. He was honorably discharged in 1957. David worked for C.H. White and sons, farming and construction. In 1972, he started Pitts dump truck service.

David was preceded in death by his parents; wife Lena; brothers, Omer Pitts, John Pitts, Sr., Leland Pitts, Junior Pitts, Paul Pitts and Tommy Pitts; sister Rowena Nigh; and granddaughter, Jasmin Murray.

He is survived by his children, Lu O'Hara, of Council Grove, Donna Murray, of AZ, Marie Quinn, of MO, Judy Anders of TX, Davey Pitts, of OK, Wayne Pitts, of AZ and Leland Pitts, of Council Grove; 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brother-in-law, Frank Shope (Joann), of White City; sister-in-law, Louise Miller (Jim), of Junction City; and sister-in-law, Mary Pitts, of Council Grove.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm, Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Community Christian Church.
