David Michael Head

David Michael Head died on September 8, 2022, surrounded by his children. His funeral will be on

Friday, October 14, 2022, at 11:00 at St. Joseph Church in Topeka. A visitation will take place from 10:00

to 11:00 in the church where the rosary will be prayed.

David was born on Tuesday, March 9th, 1948, in St. Louis Missouri, the second child of Dr. John F Head

and Cora Louise Head (Richards). He was raised in Topeka Kansas. He married Ann Mc Keever (Miles)

and to this union, his daughter Lisa Engelmeier (Head) was born in 1974. He later married Lyn Harper

and to this union, his daughter Amy Head (1977) and David Harper-Head (1981) were born. David was

later in a long-term relationship with the love of his life Judy Darting.

David received an Associate Degree from Penn Valley Community College and a Bachelor's Degree in

Criminal Justice from Washburn University. He later worked as a contract driver for the United States

Postal Service as a long-haul driver delivering mail from general mail facilities to local post offices. David

loved this job and was a valuable member of his team.

David was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching all ranges of sports from football, baseball,

basketball, and boxing. He collected baseball cards and compiled statistics about his favorite teams.

David was predeceased by his parents, brother Stephen and sister Patricia as well as his niece Taleena

Erikson and stepson Jeff Darting.

He is survived by his children Lisa Engelmeier of Orange, CA, Amy Head

of Topeka, KS, David Harper-Head (Christina) of Garnett, KS, brothers John F Head Jr (Linda)of Brighton,

CO, Kevin Head (Kathy) Appleton, WI, and sister Mary Head (Don Watkins) of Lawrence, Kansas.

grandchildren are Baylee Engelmeier, Jasmine Steele, Genesis Steele, Beau Belisle, Dustan, Teagan,

Deglan "Ducky", Keatan, and Kathryne Harper-Head. He is also survived by great grandchildren Catalina

and Lillianna as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 227 SW Van Buren Street, Topeka, KS 66603.
