David L. Gerstner, age 68, of Berryton, KS, passed away on October 15, 2017, at Stormont Vail Hospital, Topeka, KS.

Dave was born on Nov 9, 1948, in Seneca, KS. He was the son of Harvey and Dorothy (Marcotte) Gerstner. He graduated from Frankfort High School, Frankfort, KS, and retired from the Kansas Highway Patrol. and Beloit Vo-Tech, Beloit, KS. Dave was a mechanic most of his life, with a ten year stint as a tavern owner with his wife Debby.

Dave and Debby Carpenter were married on September 14, 1968. They have two sons Art and Andy. Throughout the years, Dave was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He enjoyed camping with Debby, and taking care of their country home property. He was very handy around the house working on small fix-up jobs.

Additionally, cars were a big part of Dave's life; he was a shop foreman at Laird Noller Ford, and a manager of an Amoco service station, both in Topeka. His final career was with the Kansas Highway Patrol; he built the cars no one likes to see in their rear view mirror. He retired in September 2011.

Preceding him in death were his parents Harvey and Dorothy Gerstner. His wife, Debby, whom he affectionately referred to as, "Girley", survives Dave. Additionally, other survivors include: two sons, Andrew Gerstner, of Topeka, KS; Art Gerstner, his Wife Pam (Haas), Green Bay, WI and their two sons, Howie and Charlie; one brother, Alvin (Mary Carolyn) Gerstner of Topeka; sisters, Betty (Larry) Jones of Lee's Summit, MO, Connie (Cecil) Hazlett of Wakefield, KS, and Mary (Dave) Anderson of Chapman, KS.

Services will be held on Monday October 23rd at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2700 SE Virginia Ave, Topeka, KS. Visitation begins at 10:30 A.M, with a Memorial Prayer service immediately following at 11:00 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, monetary donations to The David L. Gerstner Memorial Fund are welcome, established through Azura Credit Union, mailing address: 3623 SE 29th Street, Topeka, KS 66605.

The burial service will be in the Antioch Cemetery, Bigelow, KS, at a later undetermined date.
