David Aaron Black, 58, of Topeka, KS passed away in the early morning on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at the House at Midland Care.
He was born March 31, 1964, in Winfield, Kansas the son of Robert and Phyllis (Wright) Black.
David was a 1981 graduate of Winfield High School. He worked in several capacities for over 24 years at BNSF Railroad most recently as a Crew Caller.
David had a great zest for life and was interested in many different aspects of it. He loved sports of all kinds. In high school he played football, golf and tennis and continued playing and teaching tennis as an adult. David was a gifted drummer and played in a few jazz bands in college. He had a passion for sailing and spent as much time as he could at the lake. His latest interest was going to the shooting range, he enjoyed that very much. However, by far, his greatest enjoyment in life was spending as much time as he could with his two children and being with friends. He was taken from us way too soon and he will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
David was a wonderful dad and deeply devoted to his two children, Jason Black of Topeka and Taylor Black of Lenexa. Other survivors include a brother, Kim (Joy) Black of Winfield, three sisters, Barb Black of Winfield, Tina (Tom) Penny of Thornton, CO and Linda (Jack) Burfield of Ft. Worth, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Phyllis Black.
