Darlene Sue Smith

Darlene Sue Smith, 75, of Topeka, KS, died May 6, 2020 following a brief illness. She was born April 2, 1945 in Smith Center, KS, the daughter of Loyd and Clara Billings. She worked for many years at the North Topeka Food-4-Less, and then later at the North Topeka Walmart as a phone operator. Darlene graduated from Frankfort High School in Frankfort, KS. She then proudly earned a bachelor's degree from then Emporia State Teacher's College (now Emporia State University).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter in 1980, her parents, as well as her sister Shirley in 2019. She is survived by her sons Gregory Smith, Mark Smith and his family, as well as her brother Roy and his family.

She was a loving and loyal mother who sacrificed much for her family and sons. In 1984 she moved to Topeka to care for her mother after the death of her father.
