Dan Warford passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, in Topeka, Kansas.
He was born on August 31, 1945, in Alameda, California, to Lauren and Jesse Warford. His family moved to Kansas in 1950, and he graduated from Junction City High School in 1963. In 1966 he joined the Air Force and served his country in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1970. He settled in Topeka and earned a degree from Washburn University. He spent many years working for the Yellow Corporation, retiring in 2007.
He was a devoted husband, proud father, and grandfather who cherished time spent with those he loved.
Dan loved watching sports, especially the Kansas Jayhawks and Kansas City Chiefs. He also enjoyed playing golf with various family members and close friends. His other hobbies included reading, jigsaw puzzles, and playing cards.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Warford; daughter, Marni Schleuning; son, Mike Warford (Trish); grandchildren Keegan Schleuning, Miles Warford and Ellis Warford; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Myrna Tee, Pam Roach and Kay Kile; one brother, Ron Warford; and a nephew, Brian Warford.
A Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date.
