Danny Leroy Lane

Danny Leroy Lane, known affectionately as Danny, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2023, in his beloved hometown of Topeka, Kansas.

Born on April 18, 1953, also in Topeka, Danny was a true product of the Heartland. A graduate of Topeka High School, he was a man of many talents, a trait that served him well in his professional life. From 1991 to 2012, he owned and operated Lane's Heating and Plumbing, a business that benefited from his hard work, dedication, and an innate ability to fix almost anything. After retiring from his business, he spent the next several years working with Irish Trucking from 2013 to 2017, where he was known for his reliability and strong work ethic.

Danny's life was not all work, however. He had a deep love for racing, especially NASCAR, and he spent many a weekend engrossed in the thrill of the race. His love of music was also a constant in his life, providing a soundtrack to his days and a source of joy in his leisure time.

Above all, Danny was a family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Terri Lane, and their two sons, Troy Lane and Patrick Lane. His daughters-in-law, Kylie Lane and Brandy Lane, were like his own children, and he was a proud and doting grandfather to Spencer Lane, Geneva Lane, Patrick Lane Jr., and John Lane. He also leaves behind his brothers, Mike Lane and Talmadge Lane, and his sister-in-law, Tammy Lane. He was a pillar of strength and love in his family, always there with a wise word or helping hand when needed.

Danny was a loving man, always putting others before himself. His handy nature meant he was often called upon to help with various projects and repairs, a role he embraced with humility and grace. His wisdom, born of life experience and a keen sense of observation, made him a trusted advisor in his family and circle of friends.

In his passing, we remember Danny not with sorrow, but with gratitude for having known such a loving, handy, and wise man. His legacy lives on in his family and in the countless lives he touched throughout his journey in this world. His memory will always be a beacon of love and wisdom to those who had the privilege of knowing him. We take comfort in knowing that his love will continue to guide us, and his wisdom will continue to inspire us.

Danny Leroy Lane danced beautifully through his life, and in doing so, taught us all how to live with grace, resilience, and above all, love.
