Corliss Ann (Ferguson) Wheatley

Corliss Ann (Ferguson) Wheatley, "Corky", went home to her Angels and beloved family on October 10th, 2023.

Corliss was born on June 23, 1949 in Pueblo, CO to her parents Earl and Lee Ferguson.

Corliss moved to Topeka in the 5th grade and graduated from Highland Park High School in 1967. She was married to Aaron T. Wheatley Jr. in 1969, later divorced. They had one son, Bill Wheatley, in 1972.

Corliss graduated from Nursing school in 1971, she "Loved being a Nurse." She always spoke about her time as a nurse at Santa Fe hospital here in Topeka. Corliss moved to Colorado in 1976 where she continued working as a nurse at Swedish Hospital in Englewood, CO. Her medical career took her all the way to California for an additional 20 years, working in various medical field capacities. Her final move was back home to Topeka for retirement in 1998 to be closer to her family.

She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's games and school events, meeting her first great-grand child, watching her beloved Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49'ers, cooking meals for friends and family, tending to her many flowers, plants, and garden. Her most recent passion was painting with diamonds which brought her much joy.

Corliss is survived by her son Bill Wheatley, daughter in-law Tara, grandsons Aaron (Jordan), Camden (Lydia) & Brayden, and her one great grandson Paxton. Niece Amy Wright (Austin), great niece Elania and great nephews Evan and Eli. Niece Noelle Ledbetter (John), great niece Haley and great nephew Mason and her Cousins Yvonne Shaw and Kim Wilson.

Corliss was preceded in death by both her parents Earl and Lee Ferguson, brothers Earl and Paul Ferguson, sister Barbara DeLuca and many other loved family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday October 22, from 2-5 pm at the Foundry Events Center, 400 SW 33rd St. Topeka, KS.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that you show your love for Corliss by donating to your local animal shelter. Corliss loved her doggies Trinket and JoJo.
