Collette Peterman Coolidge

May 1, 1935 — July 15, 2022

Collette Peterman Coolidge Collette Coolidge (87) of Topeka passed away at home on July 15, 2022. She was born on May 1, 1935 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Arthur and Bernice Peterman. She married Phil Coolidge on July 20, 1957 in Topeka. She attended Topeka High School and graduated from Kansas University in 1957 where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and Mortar Board. She accompanied her husband while he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. After returning to Topeka, she devoted her time to raising their two daughters and later, helping her husband in his architectural practice. Collette was an active member of Grace Episcopal Cathedral where she was a member of the Altar Guild for 40 years. Her greatest joy was volunteering in the Sandwich Ministry, Back Snack program, Let's Help and Doorstep. She took pleasure in being involved in the community as a member of the Topeka Jr. League, Chapter GJ of PEO, and served on the Stormont Vail Hospital Auxiliary Board. She enjoyed her many clubs and activities, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family, her husband who was the love of her life, and their two daughters and granddaughter of whom she was inordinately proud. She and Phil delighted in sharing their anniversaries on trips together with the family. They celebrated sixty years together. Recently she was thrilled to attend her granddaughter's college graduation. She is survived by two daughters, Paige (Bob) Iwig, of Carmel, Indiana, and Janet Coolidge of Kansas City, Missouri, and granddaughter Frances Grace Miller of Lexington, Kentucky. Also surviving is her brother and sister-in-law, Bill (Fran) Peterman of Denver, Colorado and brother-in-law, Tom (Karlin) Coolidge, of Boise, Idaho, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She loved her Lord and delighted in the wonders of His creation. She was happy with the simplest of pleasures, was a generous friend to all, and always possessed a joyful and grateful countenance. Collette will be deeply missed by all who loved her. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022, 2:00 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Cathedral with reception to follow. Gifts in memoriam may be made to Topeka Rescue Mission, 600 N. Kansas Ave., Topeka, KS 66608 or The Salvation Army, 1320 SE 6th, Topeka, KS 66607.
