Coleman C. Morris

January 10, 1923 — November 20, 2020

Coleman C. Morris, 97, of Topeka, Kansas passed away Friday, November 20, 2020, at Village Villa in Nortonville, KS. He was born January 10, 1923, near Wreford, KS, the son of Abraham L. Morris and Edith F. (Peterson) Morris. Coleman had three sisters, Arieta O. Gage, Lois Champ, and Verna R. Beacroft, and one brother, Robert B. Morris, all of whom preceded him in death.

Coleman attended Rosey, a one-room schoolhouse, in rural Geary County. Afterwards, Coleman worked at various jobs traveling with his father in western Kansas and the Western US, wherever they could find work to make ends meet.

Coleman served honorably during WWII as part of Patton's 3rd army in the European campaign.

Upon the war's completion, he returned to the Junction City area where he began a long and successful career as an Electrician. Working for IBEW Local 226, he started his electrical work in construction and eventually served as assistant business manager, then business manager, for IBEW. In time, Coleman accepted the role of training director for the Union apprenticeship program, where he completed his career.

He married Francis M Hill, June 12, 1954 in Topeka, KS, who proceeded him in death. They were married for nearly 60 years. Together they had three sons, Larry A. Morris of Greenwood, MO; Rick L. Morris of Overland Park, KS; and David W. Morris of Topeka, KS.

Coleman enjoyed woodworking, gardening, beekeeping, travel, and spending time with family and friends. He was active in the Methodist church and was a lifetime member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. Coleman is survived by three sons and nine grandchildren.

Coleman will be cremated and a private family internment will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
