Christine Marie Lamee

Christine (Chris) Marie (Nordstom) LaMee was 49 Years old, although she didn't look it, and she resided in Wetmore, Kansas…you can find it on the map if you look hard enough. The wonder that she was came to an end on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 when she died at St Francis hospital in Topeka, Kansas.

The city of Baltimore, Maryland had the great fortune to see her born into this world to Mary Scheck and Jim Mueller. Bursting forth on a bright morning of the ninth of June in 1966 she was to ultimately become the oldest of three sisters: Laura Dean and Cheri Nordstrom both of whom yet survive her. She also has a nephew, Emmett Dean, and a niece, Molly Dean and two stepsons, Ben LaMee and Adam LaMee, all of whom mourn her passing. There are also many in-laws and friends who greatly feel her loss.

But of all the people who will notice her passing it is me, her husband Larry, who will miss her most of all. She was the best of listeners, I the best of talkers. Her hand fit most perfectly in mine when we walked…a necessity as her legs were so much shorter and she needed to rein in my stride. She always saw the best in me…a woman who thinks you are funny, likes your singing and thinks you are good looking is certainly a keeper. She was a calm mountain lake to my more turbulent soul. The best of all was that she was that way with most everyone…the slow person who pulled out in front of us in traffic being the one exception. Okay so maybe she could procrastinate upon occasion and if you looked at it in one way her unsolicited advice might seem a bit bossy…but darn if she wasn't right more often than not. I was the exuberant one but when I looked around she was the one with all of the friends. I am proud to say she was my best friend and am so humbled that she considered me hers. The first love song I ever sang to her…I told you she liked my singing…was Joshua Kadison's "Beautiful in my Eyes" and so to you my sweet Chris I will sing one last time, "My only prayer is that you realize you'll always be beautiful in my eyes." Always.
