Charles David Shirley

Charles David Shirley the 3rd was born on November 21, 1949 in Emporia, Kansas. After a long and well fought fight, Charles passed away peacefully on Thursday June 5, 2014 at Midland Hospice Center at 64 years of age.

Charles worked as an R.N. for 35 years of his life, later to retire and enjoy time on his farm raising horses, which he loved and was passionate about.

Charles was preceded in death by a long time life companion of 38 years, Steve Fields, his younger brother Corwyn Shirley, his father Charles Shirley jr., and his mother Cherry Elaine Miller.

He is survived by a daughter, three sisters, Candace Noonan and husband Kenny, Amy Tyson and husband Steven, both of Burlingame KS., Cheryl Czerniak of Cherokee OK.; three brothers, Curtis Shirley and wife Shelly of of Alva OK., Elwood Miller Jr. and wife Christina of Altus OK., and brother Craig Shirley and wife Tina of Texas; a multitude of nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.

Charles wished to be cremated, therefore his family is holding a memorial and celebration of his life on Friday, June 27, 2014 at the Townsite Community Center in Burlingame Kansas at 4pm. All those that would care to pay any last respects or share memories are welcome to attend.

A private burial of Charles' ashes will be held at a later time by family.
