TOPEKA - Charles R. "Chuck" Hanshaw, Sr., 69,
of Topeka, Kansas, passed away on September 16,
2023. He was born on January 30, 1954.
Chuck was known for being The All-American Dad and
will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Sandra
Hanshaw, and his sons Charles R. Hanshaw,
Jr., John Hanshaw (Kristy), and Ted Hanshaw
(Kimberly). He also leaves behind his cherished
grandchildren Tayler and Tanner Hanshaw, and
Aidan and Katelyn Hanshaw. He is also survived
by his brother Donald E. Hanshaw (Sheryl), sister
Mary Jane Metzger (Gregory), sister-in-law Crystal
Hanshaw, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and
Patricia Hanshaw, sister Sandra K. Hanshaw, and
brother James W. Hanshaw.
Chuck attended Highland Park High School
and served in the United States Army. He later
graduated from Washburn University and worked
at The Menninger Foundation and The University
of Kansas.
In his free time, Chuck enjoyed camping, boating,
hunting and fishing. These hobbies provided
priceless memories for him and his boys.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Lake
Shawnee Event Center on Friday, September 22,
2023, from 6:30-8:30pm. Family and friends are
invited to come honor Chuck by sharing in great
food, great music, and great memories
