Charlene Horsechief, 82, of Topeka, fell asleep in death during the evening of April 15, 2026, at home, surrounded by her three daughters. She was born January 6, 1944, to the late Charles Rice and Freda Riding-In Rice. Her parents, brothers, and a daughter, Crystal, preceded her in death.
She is survived by three daughters, Christina Dirks (Jeffrey), Darlinda Ramirez, and Daniela Ramirez, as well as seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, plus many nieces and nephews.
After attending Topeka High School, she attended Gene Blake School of Cosmetology and Topeka Barber College. She worked as a hairstylist for many years. She then became certified as a C.N.A. and enjoyed a second career as a caregiver.
After a thorough and heartfelt study of the Bible, she was baptized on April 28, 1975, and was a member of the Central Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She enjoyed telling others about her Bible-based hope for a paradise earth, where death will be no more.
Charlene will be missed by her many friends and family members, but she will be remembered for her love, laughter, creativity, and faithfulness.
Services will be held Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 4230 SW Gage Blvd., Topeka, Kansas 66610.
