Carroll L. Morgenson

Carroll L. Morgenson, age 91, passed away on November 3, 2022 at St Francis Hospital, Topeka, KS.

Carroll was born July 5, 1931, and raised in Salina, KS. He graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Landscape Architecture in 1953. He served as an air intelligence officer in the US Air Force. He was later recalled to active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Upon leaving the Air Force, he returned to his employment at the Kansas Department of Transportation where he retired as Chief Landscape Architect in 1996.

Through the years and even more so after retirement he was very active in the National Wildflower Society, Topeka Day Lily Club, Topeka Lawn and Garden Show and the Topeka Area Water Garden Society. He was past president of the Kansas Native Plant Society. He also served on the Washburn Campus Beautification Committee. Carroll spent hours planting flowers and bulbs at Ted Ensley Gardens and with Jerold Binkley planting tulips for Tulip Time at the Binkley home.

He was predeceased by his parents, Carroll and Ruth Morgenson, and brother Kenneth. He is survived by his brothers David (Joan) of Overland Park, KS and Douglas of Seattle, WA, and 2 nephews and 4 nieces.
